What’s a privilege and what’s a right?

Individuals have rights that governments take away by calling them ‘privileges.’

As a case in point that idiot Tom Harkin gets it backwards even as he spills the beans …

Throughout the history of humanity you didn’t need a government license to ride a horse. If you had a horse you rode it. But with the introduction of the car the government cut in on the dance with the idea that driving wasn’t a ‘right’ but a ‘privilege.’ Enhancing government budgets by issuing tickets, by deputizing police officers as tax collectors, became the new norm and the freedom of travel changed forever – not that anybody really noticed.

Cab drivers noticed because they were stuck with the double whammy of having a State Agency calling their drivers license a privilege while a City Agency called their hack license a privilege. The end result of this is the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission who’s rules and regulations are so numerous and contradictory that every aspect of cab driving in any direction violates a regulation and can be fined – AND – a yearly City Government Budget Line of Revenue Projection based on how much money the City can count on FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR IN ADVANCE for the tickets they WILL BE ISSUING TO CAB DRIVERS IN THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR.

Health care has always been the individual’s right in the past with it up to the individual to access however much health care they are able to or choose to. But with the Democrats bringing it under State control they are in the process of turning it into a privilege.

Federal prevention of illness is a euphemism for what will rapidly turn into the equivalent of traffic tickets for ‘risky’ behavior – with risky defined by a cabal of the government and the soon to be out of work climate scientists already in its pocket. The government taking over health care means that ‘the good of society’ AS THEY DEFINE IT TO BE will take precedence over any one individual’s care – and that’ll be for a lot more than one individual’s.

… Meanwhile analysts have spent the week remarking on the sudden rise in health insurance company stocks as the Democrats get closer to driving a wedge between the individual and the individual’s own survival.

Make no mistake - that’s no price bubble – that’s an embolism.

(I heard this sound bite on The Rush Limbaugh Show but he didn’t make the right/privilege distinction with it so I did. It’s scary to imagine how much smarter even Mr. Limbaugh would be if he’d been a New York City cab driver for a few years …)
