Major Nadal Malik Hasan was the ‘victim’ of repeated troop deployments – that he never took part in - but if any other possible motives are mentioned alongside his screaming Allah Akbar while shooting it might trigger a violent reaction from the American people.
In other words the President, the media, and even the army don’t trust the American people’s reaction to Major Hasan’s actions.
Does that mean they trusted him more than they trust us?

My line has always been: We are all behind enemy lines in the war on terror. People here take it for granted that car bombs are a Pakistani and Israeli problem - luckily - the New York City Police Department got its act together long before the FBI or CIA got their’s together. Can’t prevent it all but 90% of the terror plots busted have been busted here.
Another way of looking at it is all the translators are in the New York Police Department who did a much better job of recruiting them. Probably because the NYPD offers a job in New York - the Army offers you a job in Iraq - which would you take.
